VISITA A LA REAL ACADEMIA ESPAÑOLA DE LA LENGUA

A tour around the building of the Royal Spanish Academy of Language, built in 1884 and declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in the category of monument in 1998.

Visitors should enter through Ruiz de Alarcón, crossing the garden and entering the building through the main staircase, where they will stop into the Directors’ Hall, the Plenary Hall and the libraries.

The building that currently houses the Royal Spanish Academy of Language, located on Calle Felipe IV, was built especially for the academy by architect Miguel Aguado de la Sierra on lands from the Buen Retiro donated by the Royal House. The opening of the new headquarters was held on the 1st of April 1894 and attended by the regent Maria Cristina of Hapsburg and King Alphonse XII.
