During La noche en blanco, the Bolsa de Madrid (Madrid Stock Exchange) is opening the doors of its Salón de Contratación (House of Trade), the famous Parquet, for tours guided by the staff of this emblematic institution who will explain its history and activities.
Important: Participants must collect tickets in advance at the door starting at 6 pm until capacity is reached and must show an ID. The tickets will indicate the exact time of the tour.
The Bolsa de Madrid was created in October 1831 during the reign of Ferdinand VII. Its first session was held on the 20th of October at the Consulate in Plazuela del Ángel. In May 1893, the regent Maria Cristina officially opened the current Palacio de la Bolsa (Palace of the Stock Exchange), located in Plaza de la Lealtad. The building was designed by architect Enrique Mª Repullés de Vargas, while painter Luis Taverner and sculptor Francisco Molinelli participated in its decoration.
Under the motto that guided the architect’s design, there is no trade without peace, the shape of the palace complex conveys the spirit of encounter, consensus and negotiation.
