Night-time entertainment on Gran Vía for lovers of fun and intense emotions, all of it built using urban furniture and recycled materials. From kamikaze slides to a crane swing and illuminated signs lifted by backhoes, the highest lamppost in the world, competi slides[RC1] , basket swings, customised dumpsters designed for the most pleasant relaxation, 13-metre seesaws, arches (infinite swings), urban gardens and even a new prairie on San Isidro: there’s room for everything. Plus, after this night, these formidable pieces will be made available through a public tender to institutions and citizens who wish to equip other spaces. All the information will be published at www.lanocheeblanco.es
Gran Vía / Gran Obra is part of the show Laboratorio Gran Vía (Gran Vía Laboratory) organised by the Fundación Telefónica, which focuses on an imaginative, visionary and utopian future for this century- old artery.
Zuloark is a collective of architects that regards La noche en blanco “as a tiny test where we can try out a different kind of urban design”. It is intervening on Gran Vía by exchanging a contemplative spectacle for participatory actions in which the spectacular part, they say, “will be people transforming the spaces we offer them,” always with a fun, collective vision.
